Environment Committee Service Offerings

The Committee can help HOA's connect with Summitt County's highly trained subject matter experts and professionals:

  • Colorado State Forest Service
  • Colorado State University Extension - Summit County
  • Summit County Wildfire Council
  • Summit County Open Space & Trails - Adopt-a-Trail Program
  • Summit County Fire & EMS
  • Summit County Noxious Weeds
  • Friends of the Dillon Ranger District

The Committee can provide:

  • Consulting support for potential HOA community projects inclusive of onsite visits and walks of forested areas
  • Assistance with the creation of Hazardous Fuels Reduction matching grant applications that are supported by the Board of County Commissioners through the Summit County Wildfire Council whose objective is to mitigate wildfire risks
  • Guidance in the preparation of noxious weed management plans
  • Onsite tours of the wildfire mitigation efforts completed b y KOA member HOAs like the Estates at the Alders who has been awarded two matching grant

The Committee can facilitate member HOAs access to the numerous online resources and websites through KOA's website including, but not limited to, links to the following:

  • Colorado State Forest Service's Health & Management and the Summit County Community Wildfire Protection Plan
  • USDA Forest Service and the White River National Forest's Dillon Ranger District and Friends of the Dillon Ranger District (FDRD)
  • Summit County Open Space & Trails Department's Adopt-a-Trail program
  • Summit County CSU Extension's Summit County Forest Health and Wildfire Mitigation
